Make a Cabriole Leg with Phil Lowe Print

Make a Cabriole Leg with Phil Lowe

152_cabriole_leg.jpgThe cabriole leg is a graceful and essential form in most Queen Anne style furniture and we are fortunate to have Phil Lowe, an expert in this furniture style, hosting this unique two-day hands-on class. Phil is a nationally known craftsman and author whose work and articles have appeared in Fine Woodworking Magazine for many years. Phil, who also runs his own furniture-making school and custom furniture business in Beverly, Mass. will begin by teaching students the basics of design and layout for a graceful cabriole leg that could be used in a Queen Anne style "tea table". Students will go on to layout their own leg, bandsaw it to shape and spend time refining the shape with rasps, spokeshaves and scrapers. The class also features demonstrations of the layout and carving of a shell on the knee as well as turning a foot and pad on the leg. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the leaders in the field. Tuition: $195.00 (plus materials- some specific tools will be required- please inquire when registering).
