Professional French Polishing Techniques with Peter Gedrys

Join noted professional finisher and restoration expert, Peter Gedrys for this highly rewarding look into the world of French Polishing and traditional finishing techniques. The finish on many 18th & 19th century antiques have a "fire" in them which is only produced by the shellacs used in the French Polished surfaces. In this three night hands on class, students will learn the techniques and develop the hand skills necessary to produce this traditional fine finish. Peter will begin to teach students the techniques for developing deep colors, filling the pores of open grained woods, building a finish and finally, polishing the finish. The various colors and grades of shellac will be explored and utilized in the informative and exciting advanced finishing class.
