Instructor: Doug Smith

Doug Smith founded Douglass Yankee Craftsman 10 years ago to satisfy his desire to produce fine Douglass Smith 5quality handcrafted wood products. After attending classes at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking, he found his true passion and made the leap from the computer industry. Doug realized his dream by taking many classes from well-known professionals in the wood working business and practicing the trade by spending endless hours refining his techniques.
 
While Shaker Oval Boxes are his main product and are featured in the gift shops of Shaker Museums across the country, he also crafts other Shaker and Early American furniture including candle boxes, tables, drying racks and medicine cabinets.
 
He is a member of The Society of American Period Furniture Makers.
