Make a Greene & Greene Style Sofa Table with Bob Van Dyke

greene__greene_sofa_table.jpgThis is our newest Woodworking III project in the Fundamentals of Furniture making series and is unique because its design was a group effort by a special class last spring. Charles & Henry Greene were influential designers during the Arts & Crafts Furniture movement of the early 20th century and utilized some distinctly unique designs. Their style has become very popular in the last few years. Drawing heavily on Greene & Greene design features, Asian influences and a couple of our own, the project features the traditional cloud lift shape on the front and back aprons, curved end aprons, an Oriental looking lower shelf and raised ebony plugs. One of the more unique features is the ebony "keys" that are used on the edges of the breadboard top. The table can be made in either cherry or the more traditional mahogany. Sign up soon as class size is limited. Tuition: $325.00 Plus materials
